Tom Lawrence serves as president and CEO of Benefit Recovery Inc. and senior partner of Lawrence & Russell, LLP. Lawrence is a frequent author and speaker on employee benefits topics across the nation. He is lead author of ERISA Subrogation; co-creator of SubWorks, the first interactive subrogation law Web site; and a chapter editor of Employee Benefits Law, which is published by the American Bar Association and BNA Books.
Lawrence was one of the attorneys who represented Great-West in Great-West Life v. Knudson and MAMSI in Sereboff v. MAMSI, two landmark healthcare subrogation cases decided by the United States Supreme Court in 2002 and 2006, respectively.
He holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law, a Master of Arts in public policy and a bachelor’s in finance, both from Baylor University.
When not spending time with his wife, Cindy, and children Brittain, Will and Cameron, Lawrence can be found fly fishing with Cindy in trout streams throughout North America, coaching Will’s youth football teams or climbing mountains in the Pacific Northwest and throughout the world.
